Fiestas en París.
Tiempo de lectura: 4 minutos

We like parties, why deny it? Not only because of the dancing and the fun, but also because they enable us to get closer in another way to the place we visit and its people. That’s why today we’re looking for parties in Paris, are you coming with us?

You can imagine that in a city like Paris there is something for everyone. Have we ever told you, for example, about our 4 plans to get to know romantic Paris? Today we are proposing the challenge of presenting you with a selection of Parisian festivities for all preferences.

It’s not easy. We will try to introduce you to the great French parties of a lifetime and some more unique events that you will only find in Paris in 2019. Let’s see if you like any of these proposals!😉

OUR ADVICE: Almost everything we’re going to propose is free or almost free, challenging the idea that Paris is expensive. In this link we will give you more clues to find free concerts in Paris.

National Day of France.

The National Day of France is at the head of the festivities in Paris, of course. It is July 14 and commemorates the Storming of the Bastille of 1789 (actually, the so-called Feast of the Federation the following year).

What does it consist of? It’s basically a public festival, there’s a big military parade at the Champs Elysées and impressive fireworks at the Champs de Mars. So far it’s no big deal…

Now comes what makes this day stand out among the festivities in Paris: the firefighters’ dancing. All the city’s fire stations are open to the public and a dance is held (sometimes free, sometimes not).

What’s that? Well, the poor little firemen were on duty that day, because of the fireworks, so the mountain goes to Muhammad. If you want to go too, here’s a list of all the fire stations in Paris.

Feast of Ganesh.

Among the many festivals in Paris, a multicultural city where there are many, if there is one that stands out is the feast of Ganesh, dedicated to one of the most important Hindu deities. If you are looking for something different from the usual, this is not to be missed.

Basically it is a parade, organised by the temple Sri Manicka Vinayakar Alayam for September 1, from 10.30 am to 3.00 pm. But what a parade. Here are the details of this 24th edition.

Without entering into theological details, you’ll see a lot of people parading to the rhythm of traditional instruments, throwing floral floats and splitting coconuts with two hands (if not for the latter it might look like Holy Week, but it is not).

Piknic Électronic.

The Paris agenda is very active throughout the summer, so it’s not easy to choose. That’s why we like the idea of the Piknic Électronik of Paris 2019: we are going for a snack and festival, with friends or family, every Sunday from July 21 to September 15.

The Piknic Electronic is an itinerant event that this year comes to Paris and offers a festive and relaxed atmosphere by spending the afternoon in the park (in this case, at the Hippodrome of Auteil) and listening to electronic music.

Two stages, 25 renowned DJs and nine local groups. As for the picnic, you can either bring it yourself or buy it sur place, as they say. And it’s also family friendly, with a children’s area. A great option for any weekend in Paris this summer.

Fête de la Musique.

Do you like music? And who doesn’t. Would you like to go to concerts in Paris? Then you can’t miss the Fête de la Musique which has been held on June 21 since 1982.

On that day there are many events all over the Hexagon. The best thing about it is that all these concerts are always free and anyone can participate in the party by organising their own concert.

So, the difficult thing is to choose, because in addition there is music for all the preferences, without filters nor organising committees. This interactive map (from the year 2018) is the best way to search, but take note that there are only about a thousand activities in Paris…

Well, festival, the word festival, is not just a festival… Although for some, discovering places normally closed to the public excites us more than many typical loud evening parties.

The initiative was conceived (in France, in 1984) with the idea of opening public monuments and public institutions normally inaccessible or restricted to the public. It is always held on the third weekend in September, this year 2019, from 20 to 22 September.

Be warned, people often say that on this day entry into museums and monuments is free and it doesn’t have to be that way. It usually is, but sometimes the entry fee is at a reduced price and other times, not at all.

So maybe it’s not the day to go to the essentials of Paris, but to discover palaces and gardens, to make special tours, to sneak into an embassy… those corners that, when we pass by, we ask ourselves what they will look like inside. In Paris there are a whopping 2400 locations! You can find your way around here.

TIP TRAVELLER: If you still want more, don’t miss the Montmartre Grape Harvest Festival, from 9 to 13 October; the city’s third event in attendance (half a million minimum). And free!
