Ibiza has many attractions, but indisputably, we believe that the coves are the greatest treasure of the island.
Who wouldn’t want to relax in its calm turquoise waters? 😃
Spending a sunny afternoon in a wonderful place… It’s priceless! What are you waiting for to pack your suitcase and fly to paradise? ✈
To help you in choosing the most special places to take a bath on your next trip to the famous island of the Balearic Archipelago, in today’s post we are going to point out some of the best coves in Ibiza.
Ibiza’s nightlife is known all over the world… But its fabulous coves too! 😊
Don’t miss the opportunity to meet them in person!
THE INCREDIBLE COVES OF IBIZA
This cove, with its beautiful natural surroundings and easy access, is usually full of people. It is one of the favorites of locals and tourists, but it is worth a visit to discover it. It has several restaurants around and is highly recommended for going with children.
We advise you to walk through the hills full of pines to better observe the unique beauty of this incoming sea.
It is a perfect place to practice diving (there is a school in the area) or snorkeling and spend a few relaxing hours of rest. You’ll find the calm turquoise waters we travelers are looking for on the island. It won’t let you down! 😉
Its crystalline waters attract many visitors in summer. We will have at our disposal some restaurants and a coarse sand beach (pebbles) about 200 meters long.
10 minutes by car from Sant Josep, this particular Eden situated in the middle of a natural reserve is frequented by surfers on windy days.
The car park is a bit complicated, but it is worth getting at least a little closer to enjoy magnificent views of the islets of Es Vedrà (you can hire an excursion to visit it) and Es Vedranell which are opposite each other.
The small cove called Sa Caleta is located to the south of the island, near Sant Josep and is somewhat different from the others. With barely 100 meters long we find ourselves in front of what is for many, the best cove in Ibiza. This place is also known as Es Bol Nou and is visited by tourists and locals, especially families.
This fabulous area located on a cliff has transparent waters and a beautiful landscape of rocks and pines facing the sea. The slightly reddish sand makes it stand out from the other coves, giving it its own personality. We assure you… You’ll love it!
One of the images that comes to mind when we think of Ibiza’s coves is the typical picture of blue waters on the coast and green pines on the hills. And this cove is a good example of that!
All this is what we can find in Cala Jondal. Being one of the coasts chosen to anchor the yachts, it is famous for hosting well-known Beach Clubs where you can have a refreshing drink in front of the sea.
The small pebbles on the shore will not prevent you from enjoying the bath because, underwater, your feet will be on the sand.
On your visit to the island, you can not miss a stop at this place.
The most striking thing about this cove is that it gives us the sensation of being in a natural swimming pool: sheltered between rocks and pine trees. Space is small but very flirtatious making this corner one of the coziest for the bathroom.
Its calm and safe waters attract bathers, but even so, it is not usually overcrowded.
You can get there on foot from nearby Cala Gració (another kind of shallow natural swimming pool).
One of the star coves of the island (about 160 meters long): in Benirrás the landscape will surprise you. Behind the sand, several hills covered with pine trees remind us that we are facing one of the wonders of Ibiza.
Some of the most famous activities of the place are snorkeling and… listen to the drums!
No, we have not gone mad nor have we hallucinations caused by the beauty of the environment. Here you can enjoy memorable sunsets to the beat of the hippy drums that gather at sunset to celebrate the end of the day in a special way. And it’s free!
Travel Tip: In high season many people come to the cove to see the sunset if you want to find a parking space, come in advance. To hear the drums, the best day is Sunday.
This cove has a lot of space and is ideal for children due to its gentle and not very deep waters.
Around you, a dense forest where you can rest in the shade. In the water, a multitude of sporting activities awaits you.
Several restaurants complement the leisure offer by making your visit to this space as complete as possible.
For many, one of the best coves in Ibiza, check it out for yourself and you’ll tell us your opinion! 😁
From one pretty cove to another that’s the same or more! If you still want to get to know some fantastic places in Ibiza, we recommend the Cala Conta (also known as Platges de Comte). Its irregular coastline is home to a sandy beach that is accessed after descending a few steps.
It is located near the town of San Antonio, in the western part of the island and has a parking area.
In front of it, you can see several islets creating a very photogenic image, this is one of the reasons why it is usually a cove quite crowded in summer.
This area is really beautiful. Another recommended spot to see the dazzling Ibizan sunset.
Your visit is essential! 😎
And we got to our favorite. This formidable cove surrounded by green hills has something special. Its turquoise waters are unbeatable for bathing and its golden sand is great for resting.
We find ourselves in front of a cove that is somewhat hidden from Ibiza and not very busy, as the access from the car park to the sand is somewhat pronounced, but in summer, like almost all coves, it is full of people.
A short distance from Sant Antoni de Portamy, you will be able to observe legendary sunsets.
From here you can access the more intimate Cala Saladeta by an upper path that runs over the hill. So if you’re up for the ride… You’ll get two coves for the price of one!
Luckily, the area is hardly urbanized, thus preserving the charm of the place.
Go first thing in the morning and you’ll find the least crowded cove. The surroundings are sensational!
Traveler Tip: The best way to get to know the coves of the island is to book a rental car. This way you will be able to move at your own pace, freely and along the route you want. Find out about the different parking areas on the beaches and coves so that you don’t have a problem when it comes to parking your vehicle.
We recommend that you always go to the beaches early in the summer. As the day goes by, more and more people come.
