CLIMB THE TOWER OF HERCULES
Meet the city’s landmark. The Tower of Hercules is the one and only oldest functioning Roman lighthouse in the world. Such is its historical relevance that it has been awarded the title of UNESCO World Heritage Site.
At 55 metres high and situated on a green hill, the views of the sea from the top of the tower are truly fascinating.

VISIT THE SCULPTURE PARK OF A CORUÑA
Next to the Tower of Hercules, there is a mystical park that houses a charming open-air museum. It also has various panels detailing the epic local legends, with various works by 15 artists from the 20th century.
Among them we can find Los Menhires, La Caracola, Los Guardianes, La Copa del Sol…and the most photographed of all: A beautiful and large circular mosaic on the floor with the drawing of La Rosa de los Vientos.
This ancient navigation instrument was used as a compass to get your bearings whilst sailing.
Those who visit this area of the coast say that it conveys a lot of peace. It is common to see people sitting inside the mosaic resting and enjoying the beauty of the surroundings.
WALK AROUND THE ANCIENT CITY.
Known as the Old City, it is a set of streets and squares that are home to lavish houses with colonial vestiges and exquisite ornamentation.
Walking through this area is like reliving years of history, but also discovering the liveliest and most vibrant part of this city.
Our itinerary will take us through the heart and nerve centre of the city: Maria Pita Square.
Here you will find the beautiful City Hall of A Coruña (guided tours are available), as well as the Statue of Maria Pita, a 16th century heroine whose exploits led to the retreat of the English invaders who had come to the city under the leadership of the English admiral and corsair Sir Frances Drake.
In addition to shopping, you will be able to practice one of the most pleasant activities that can be carried out in this Galician province: going for tapas!

WALK ALONG THE PROMENADE
For approximately 14 kilometres, this walk will take you along beautiful beaches and cliffs, as well as important monuments of the city such as the Castle of San Antón (a 6th century building that houses the city’s archaeological and historical museum) and the Tower of Hercules.
Considered to be the longest promenade in Europe, in the late afternoon you can find many people walking or riding their bicycles while enjoying the unbeatable views of the sea that this magnificent route offers.
ENJOY THE RIAZOR BEACH.
The urban beach of A Coruña is very attractive for visitors. Located in La Ensenada del Orzán, it has earned itself the distinction of the blue flag thanks to the good environmental conditions and the extensive facilities it has.
Its white sand and crystalline waters are perfect for swimming – a charming shell-shaped beach!

Located on the shores of the sea, we can see seals, sharks, rays and a great variety of fish.
- THE MOUNTAIN OF SAN PEDRO.
Climb up to its panoramic elevator. It has a fabulous viewpoint from where you can appreciate the sea and the city in all its splendour. The best place to watch the sunset!
- THE PORT OF A CORUÑA.
With its peculiar architecture, its unique glass buildings along Avenida de la Marina, it takes us back to times gone by.
Travelling tip: You cannot leave A Coruña without trying its most famous and succulent typical dishes. To get to know the excellent raw materials of A Coruña first hand, visit the Market in Plaza de Lugo.
Barnacles, clams, mussels, octopuses, fish, fruit, vegetables, flowers, meat… You will surely leave it with your hands full of bags!
You can take a bottle of their famous wines as a souvenir: The Albariño or the Ribeiros.
